Hi Everyone, Will try to get these out weekly!
Let’s say, for the moment, that you’re an IT storage administrator with several Pure Storage FlashArrays providing production block and file storage in your datacenter. Every time you open an article with “storage integration” or “backup from storage snapshot” in the title, you come to find that it is referring to virtual or physical machine data. You wait for, and you hope for, one of these announcements or blogs to be about doing file backup from storage snapshot. Your wait is over!Pure Storage has developed and delivered a GitHub community project that allows you to use Veeam Backup & Replication Unstructured Data Backup to backup both NFS and SMB shares on a FlashArray, or a FlashBlade, from storage snapshot. This includes when you have Pure SafeMode snapshot immutability turned on.Why does backup from storage snapshot (BfSS) matter for FlashArray or FlashBlade file backup? Two main reasons:Open files Point-in-time consistencyOpen FilesTo successfully protect a file share, al

I am trying to upgrade 11a (11.0.1.1261_22020302) to V12.1 via iso and when it gets to step 3 (Upgrading Veeam Explorers) a popup says that it can't find VeeamExplorerForSQL.msi_explorers. Error: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. It is looking for that file in this location (which does not exist):C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Setup\Temp\80ca74a8-4c01-451b-b8df-3d76e7abf376\FixFiles\I can't find it anywhere on the machine. I did find an old log file that references that file that references version 9.5. I found that file inside an old 9.5 update. I extracted it and put it in the location asked for, but it still does not like it.

Hi there in Virtual World :)Running Veeam 11 - We experienced a complete full “Files to Tape” backup when the daily Tape job ran for the first time after entering Daylight Saving Time (DST) last weekend.ALL files in our backup Disk repository (xx TB) - that means UNCHANGED Veeam backup files from the last 4 months - was all sent to Tape once again - taking several job-runtime days to finish - and filling up a lot of new Tapes, which we needed to supply into the Tape library.Have anybody else experienced similar issues? As far as I have read - Veeam operates in the UCT format - which should not be sensitive due Server time changes or DST - except changes in the local job time schedule:Daylight savings time - Veeam R&D ForumsDaylight saving switch changes job start time - Veeam R&D Forums We didn`t have any other issues running the usual VM Machine jobs to disk. This issue has been raised to the Veeam Support - and it has been escalated to their RnD engineers. So hopefully they wil
I have a backup environment that consists of: 1 physical Backup Server with a 10gbit connection to the switch that is also the primary backup repository1 VM for VMware backup proxy configured to use virtual appliance (8vCPUs & 16GB of RAM)3 node vSAN cluster all connected to the same switch via 10gbit ports When running backup jobs, Veeam starts running well, reaching read speeds close to 450MB/s for some jobs. After a while, the read speeds drops significantly for both incremental and full backups, going down to ~70MB/s in some cases. The backup proxy and the backup repository are configured to process 8 concurrent tasks. The bottleneck in all the backup jobs show 99% in source. How/where should I look for the reason of this bottleneck and what types of tests can I run to find which part is holding the backup speed down?
Hello All, I have a TAPE job that works well until one day is skipped, for example, due to a holiday. In such cases, it tries to back up the missed days as well, but then it no longer fits on the tape. Currently, there are 10 processes in the TAPE job, but if a day is skipped, it becomes 20 processes, and if two days are skipped, it becomes 30 processes.I can only fix it by deleting the TAPE job and creating a new one. This again only works well until a day is skipped. I am using the following: Veeam Backup and Replication 12.1.1.56, TAPE: IBM ULT3580-HH6 SCSIAny idea? Thanks,
Question 2 for the week is below. Good luck! For those new to the VMCE Study Hall, we ask you please hide your comment for the benefit of others attempting to answer. To do so, see img below: Hide CommentOk now on to the question… When creating a Backup Job and attempting to add some newly created Virtual Machines, you notice the new VMs don't show in the inventory, so you perform a Virtual Infrastructure refresh as shown by the button in the image below: VI RefreshWhat Veeam service is responsible for interacting with the Virtual Infrastructure to provide infrastructure topology information?Mount Service Backup Service Installer Service Broker Service Transport Service
First question for this week. Shouldn’t be too bad. Good luck! 😊(Please don’t forget to hide your comments) Four lines have missing UI section names for the Veeam Console image below. Of the four missing UI names, select three from the list below. Veeam ConsoleHome menu Working area Main menu Malware events Console Help menu Inventory Pane Veeam AI Assistant
